SecureLifeSettlements.com Offers New Tools to Help Seniors Obtain Life Settlements

Kansas City, MO (PRWEB) November 8, 2006

Secure Life Settlements today announced the launch of several improvements to its site, located at http://www.securelifesettlements.com, which will ensure that seniors who want to sell their life insurance will receive the maximum amount of cash for their life insurance policy.

The Policy Calculator helps senior citizens determine the estimated life settlement that could be obtained by selling a life insurance policy. A life settlement is the sale of a life insurance policy that results in a cash payment to the policyholder larger than the cash surrender value of the policy.

Investors often buy life insurance policies in order to balance out their investment portfolios. These investors are willing to pay much more for a life policy than the insurance company offers as the surrender value. In fact, they pay an average of three or four times as much. This can mean the difference between tens of thousands and hundreds of thousands of dollars.

SecureLifeSettlements.com now provides the tools and information that senior citizens need when trying to make an informed decision about their financial futures. Many seniors are considering new sources of income as they struggle to pay for care home living, prescription drug costs or the daily expenses of living alone.

Pending Healthcare Legislation Spells Increased Costs for Senior Citizens

Pending Healthcare Legislation Spells Increased Costs for Senior Citizens

Washington DC (PRWEB) February 6, 2011

The “Affordable Care Act” decreases costs to seniors for preventive care, but the 112th Congress is considering repealing this valuable legislation. According to the Congressional Budget Office, repealing the health reform would add $ 230 billion to our federal deficit by 2021.

The National Council on Aging and CBSaver stand together in giving a voice to senior citizens nationwide; their contributions to improving the quality of life for citizens over the age of 65 are admirable. While the National Council on Aging seeks to improve the lives of older citizens, CBSaver, a cable bill negotiations service seeks to directly expand senior citizen’s budget by decreasing their cable bills.

According to Alexander Per, an economist with CBSaver, “Our internal databases show that clients over the age of 65 save 63.7% more on their cable bills by using CBSaver.com than clients under the age of 65. Senior citizens have become a clear target of price discrimination.”

The 1996 Telecommunications Act strips the FCC of the legal authority to review cable rates. All that is required for cable companies to raise rates is some form of public notice, no matter how obscure. The FCC’s most recent Report on Cable Industry Prices found that the cost of expanded basic cable service has grown by 122% since 1995, from $ 22.35 to $ 49.65. The Consumer Price Index (CPI) has risen only 38.4% over the same period.

Effective since April 1, 2007, The “Pharmaceutical Assistance for the Aged and Disabled” program has helped seniors with their cable bills using Comcast in New Jersey; however this does not protect them from excessive cable bill increases as compared to CPI. The consumer must opt-in to this program by providing proof of eligibility. According to Alexander Per, “Companies such as CBSaver are open to all cable customers and in 84% of the cases can provide more monthly savings without the hassle.”

In an effort to help balance senior citizen’s budgets with pending health care cost increases, CBSaver recommends cutting down on unnecessary cable equipment and considering bundling services, but there is no need to change your service or your contract; CBSaver slashes the cost of hundreds of cable bills a day while keeping your current contract and services in tact.
